K-Karp MIMETIC Mono Line

I was aked if i would put this line through its paces and i was a little sceptical to be totally honest with you, a line which was not only camo but 10lb in breaking strain (strength given to me) to be used for match fishing...mmmmm. I could totally see how this line would apeal to specimen anglers but for match fishing? I have now been using it for two months and cant fault it though, line diameter is ok, line lay ok, wear and tear well there doesnt seem to be any, breakages on fish - nil but it is 10lb so i didnt expect any, abrasion resitance excellent the only downfall i can see is if it could be made in lower breaking strains it could apeal to a wider market. Do i still have it on one of my spools absolutely, will i continue to use it definitely.

Antrax Pro 10ft Bomb rod

I was asked to put this rod through its paces and so far I am struggling to find something it can’t do. Last week I used it with a small method feeder and landed carp to around the 4lb mark with the 2oz tip in. It seemed to handle the method and angry carp with ease and had plenty of power in reserve. This week I was at a silver fish venue perfect I thought I will give the rod a different test so set up a small maggot feeder with a light hooklength and the 1oz tip in and unbelievably the bite detection was there and the action was still spot on and I didn’t bump the fish. I have only used this rod twice so far but it has handled both situations amazingly well. I will be trying it out soon on a venue where the carp are much larger and will let you all know just how it comes through its next test but it is fast becoming a big hit with me. O just for the record in the two matches mentioned I was 4th and 6th overall respectively.

I have just had some great samples come through, “Let the testing begin” seriously though the products that have come through look amazing and if the perform as well as they look I will be one happy chappy. I have taken a rather dodgy photo of two of the reels which I have loaded up with some K Karp line and will be trying them out over the coming weeks (hopefully with some better pics) Keep tuned in for these results and many more.

Well what can I say? I started fishing at a very young age as most of us seem to do but I knew almost straight away that this wasn’t just going to be just a hobby for me and over the years it’s developed more into an obsession. I have worked as a tackle rep and now own and run a small tackle shop as well as doing some work as a consultant. Match fishing is my first love (fishing wise …lol) as I love pitting myself against other anglers as well as the fish but I have also been known to do the odd bit of specimen hunting landing catfish to 177lb and carp to over 35lb. Over the years I have had the odd win or two and fished both with and against some good anglers both in and against some good teams, I have also had a few articles/write ups published including a few reviews for some magazines and papers. Well that’s enough about me for now, keep your eyes peeled to my first review on here shortly.

The reason for this weblog revealed

I can now officially reveal the reasons behind this new weblog. Belstane the official distributor of Trabucco and K karp brands in the UK (to mention just a few) have asked me to be a consultant for them. What does this mean and what will be seen on this weblog? Well I will be helping them with their match and carp ranges, both behind the scenes and of course with reviews and other activities within the public eye. I have been using some items from Trabucco for quite a while now including their GM Carp one pole of which I actually own two and have done for a few years now, to a new hooklength which I have only been using for a few months. So why not add this page to your favourites and keep up to date with these great brands.
